About a year ago, an extraordinary family appeared on American television: a couple and their seven (!) children, all born in a single birth in 1997, capturing widespread media attention due to their unique story.
When Bobbi McCaughey found out she was pregnant, she was informed she carried no less than seven embryos. "Every doctor I consulted recommended aborting at least four of the babies," Bobbi remembers. "They told me the likelihood of them being born healthy was very slim, saying 'a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'."
"We had many doubts," explains Bobbi's husband, Kenny. "After all, raising so many children at once isn’t easy. Money and patience are precious commodities nowadays, and we weren’t sure we could handle the situation’s repercussions."
Yet despite everything, in a bold and particularly courageous move, the couple decided to take the risk and not terminate any of the pregnancies.
Miraculously, and against pessimistic predictions, all seven babies survived, 'proving' to the world that when *Hashem* wills it, anything is possible.
The media at the time closely followed the infants, and the McCaugheys made countless appearances on television programs and countless interviews in print. A year ago, when the septuplets celebrated their 18th birthday, they appeared together on a television show seen by over 10 million viewers.
At one point in the show, Bobbi burst into tears and said emotionally, "I’m overwhelmed seeing us here today when I remember all we’ve been through together. The joy, the sorrow, the challenges. It’s a great gift from *Hashem* that we are all here together today."
