Finally, inspired by an article he read online, he decided to conduct a small home experiment and build an unusual trap to catch the pesky fliers. He took a small water bottle, cut it in the middle, and filled the bottom with sugar.

Then he took a banana, chopped it into cubes, scattered the pieces over the sugar, and covered everything with water up to the height of the bananas. He then inserted the top half of the bottle upside down with the neck facing downwards, exactly as illustrated in the following photos:
