Li Zhong's story is a classic example of 'where there's a will, there's a way': A horrific accident at the age of four left Li without legs and sealed her fate forever. Nevertheless, this didn't prevent Li from getting married, attending university, and becoming a successful doctor in southern China, where she's saved thousands over the past 15 years.

Li had countless opportunities to give up on her dreams, but she kept her hope alive, choosing to believe she could fulfill them even in her 'critical' condition. 'At eight, I taught myself to walk using two wooden stools. Later, I realized I could connect them to my legs,' Li shared.

And that's exactly what she did.

By attaching these small stools to her leg stumps, Li was able to get married. Following her marriage, with the support of her husband, Xie Liu Xingyan, she pursued her dream of studying medicine in central China. After years of grueling studies, Li chose to return to her hometown in southern China to provide dedicated care to those in need.

This couldn’t have happened without the support of her husband, Xie Liu Xingyan, who left his job to become their 'housekeeper,' enabling Li to chase her dreams. 'Thanks to my husband's help, I manage to reach even more remote areas, and he's the one who carries me on his shoulders when I tire from walking on my worn-out stools.' Despite the challenges, Li never once complained about her situation. 'I'm doing what I was meant to do. Even if I wasn't honored as a doctor, I would still do my best in my role. It's true that compared to others, I had to overcome more challenges, but my motto is to help myself so that Hashem helps me.'
