Is This the World's Smallest Swordfish?

Amazing: A biologist captured and shared a close-up photo of a tiny swordfish, measuring just a few millimeters. "Most year-old swordfish aren't yet mature; we can call them overgrown babies," wrote biologist Juan S. Levesque in an article published in Florida's sports magazine.

Marine biologist Juan S. Levesque published an article about the life cycles of the swordfish, including this delightful capture of a tiny swordfish. According to Levesque, it measures no more than two to three millimeters.

In his article, Levesque noted that the sword with which these fish come into the world is spiny and scaly. The average size of one-year-old swordfish is nearly a meter—if you will, overgrown babies, as Levesque calls them. To think that one day this 'baby' will reach the average size of an adult swordfish (about six feet) is simply mind-blowing... truly one of the wonders of creation.
