For several years, Patrick Schmidt from California searched in vain for a job. Unemployed and feeling helpless, he stumbled upon a newspaper ad: "School bus for sale, just $4,500." In a somewhat bold decision, Schmidt chose to invest most of his savings to purchase the bus, transforming it into a mobile home to enable him to find temporary work in various states without committing to a mortgage or a permanent job. "These are exactly the kind of life I dream and imagine for myself," said 30-year-old Schmidt after buying the bus and beginning the renovation alongside his father.

Schmidt hopes to travel across the U.S. with his mobile home and cover a distance of 10,000 km to his first destination, Florida, in the shortest time. On choosing this transient lifestyle, Schmidt said, "I'm good with anything involving my hands, but I get bored with a regular job too quickly, and living in a bus seems to be the ultimate solution for me."
