The Gulf Bride, that’s the name of what is set to become the tallest building in the world, planned for Basra, Iraq. This new structure will include 230 floors and a 188-meter antenna, aiming for a total height of 1,152 meters. With this impressive stature, it is poised to surpass the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 830 meters and is currently the tallest building worldwide. The building's design phase is complete, but a construction start date has yet to be scheduled.
According to AMBS Architects, who designed the building, this is the start of a new project that will consist of four skyscrapers of varying heights connected together. The complex will feature hotels, restaurants, offices, residential areas, schools, clinics, and even a transportation system. The other three towers will be shorter than The Gulf Bride, standing at 728 meters, 484 meters, and 61 meters. They also noted that the building complex will independently generate the energy it consumes.
In a statement, it was written: "The Gulf Bride will be a place everyone can enjoy, not just the building's residents and workers, but the public as well. Thousands will be able to enjoy countless attractions, from strolling in parks and promenades on the ground floor to shopping and dining hundreds of meters above the ground."
Marcus de Andreas, the architect behind the project, explained that the idea for four interconnected towers arose after the September 11 terror attacks. He noted that the events of 2001 highlighted the vulnerability of standalone skyscrapers, and a connected group of towers provides escape routes in the event of a threat.
