It all began when Josh Sundquist, now 31, was just nine years old and diagnosed with cancerous tumors requiring chemotherapy. Within months, doctors had to amputate his left leg as his chances of survival dwindled. By age 13, Josh was cancer-free and three years later, he participated in skiing competitions. "I don't believe in self-pity," he tells audiences worldwide, "because it only drags you lower than you already are." Despite being young, right after losing his leg, Josh resolved not to let life defeat him and committed to triumph over it in his own unique way.

He signed up for workshops to create original costumes for individuals like himself, eventually becoming renowned for his creativity and especially his exceptional joy in everything he does. Concurrently, Josh trained as a coach and now travels globally to share his philosophy. "I've always faced social awkwardness as a person with disabilities, but humor helps me accept myself and integrate into society 'normally.' Humor opens people up to me, and with the costumes I create, I celebrate not only what others celebrate but also who I am. It's a double celebration for me when I embrace who I am. It might sound strange, but it's all about perspective. I know that because of my 'disadvantage,' I've become a successful coach."
