Residents of Birmingham strolling the city streets in recent months have often witnessed a surprising sight: a life-sized Spider-Man offering food to the homeless on benches and sidewalks.
The individual behind this unusual sight is an anonymous young man from Birmingham who works as a bartender during the day and feeds the hungry in the evenings. "I believe all humans are equal and that we should help everyone as we would help a close friend," he conveyed in a message sent to a website that wrote about him. Birmingham, where he operates, is the second largest city in the UK and has the highest number of homeless people in the kingdom.
Spider-Man feeding the hungry in Birmingham
Why does this British young man prefer to perform his acts of kindness while wearing a Spider-Man suit? Besides the fact that the costume preserves his anonymity, he claims that his unconventional attire encourages others to join in helping the homeless in their city. "When I used to distribute food to the hungry before, no one noticed. But when I started walking around in a Spider-Man suit, people began approaching me and asking what I was doing. They got interested in my initiative, and as a result, quite a few have decided to take action for these homeless people too."
The Birmingham Spider-Man even opened a Facebook page under this name, hoping to inspire others to start thinking about the needy people right around them. "I'm not accepting money donations," he emphasized in a post on his Facebook page. "Instead, I encourage people to get involved and feed those who need it."
