For over 80 years, parts of Brazil have been grappling with severe droughts. Yet, these challenging conditions have led to a surprising discovery: as the Jaguari River's water level dropped by about 30 cm, the remains of an ancient city named Igarata emerged for all to see.

Back in its day, Igarata was home to approximately 2,000 residents and was bustling with activity and employment opportunities. One fateful day, it was submerged by the river and vanished, but today, due to the drought, its former residents are returning to piece together their memories from the ruins. "Life here was incredibly tough," recounts Irene de Almeida, 65, whose recollections of her birthplace, Igarata, resurfaced alongside this thrilling reveal. "Yet, there were also pleasant and enjoyable memories," she added.
