The Mystery of Shofar Sounds Around the World: Rabbi Zamir Cohen's Insight
During his weekly lecture in Ramat Aviv, Rabbi Zamir Cohen addressed the phenomenon of mysterious shofar sounds, which have been documented in YouTube videos and global news broadcasts. What does the rabbi recommend we take from this intriguing phenomenon?
The phenomenon of strange shofar sounds is being increasingly discussed on social media and has even made its way into various news broadcasts worldwide. Just days before Rosh Hashanah, Rabbi Zamir Cohen addressed this during his weekly lesson, following a question he received on the topic.
"This video was sent to me, in which numerous news broadcasts report fairly clear shofar sounds from different places," Rabbi Zamir says. "They say it happened in Israel too, in Karmiel. Some interpret this as written in the Talmud, that in the sixth year there will be sounds, in the seventh year wars, and at the conclusion of the seventh, the son of David will come, the Messiah arrives. So, it is true that this year is the sixth, and we hope that next year there won’t be wars.
It’s impossible to make definitive statements about these things because, first of all, we need to verify their authenticity. Secondly, it’s important to ensure that the interpretation provided is correct, as written in the Talmud, 'in the sixth year, sounds.' It could be.
"Practically, what we need to take from this is just a prompt for strengthening. If it is true that the sounds referenced in the Talmud refer to this, and in the seventh year, heaven forbid, wars occur – then there isn’t much time. We need to better ourselves spiritually more and more. A woman who says 'in five years I think I’ll start wearing a head covering' should do it now. Decide on modesty, Shabbat, tefillin – every person should hurry. It says about the Messiah 'suddenly, the lord you seek will appear.' Suddenly. And when the Messiah comes, a person can no longer change. Each person is recorded on their spiritual level. So, these things are meant to awaken us to introspection, to correct ourselves more swiftly, without setting rigid interpretations of these matters.
