A bathroom light can simply serve as a decorative fixture without making a dramatic impact on the overall lighting design, or it can be a crucial light source for daily grooming tasks, like applying makeup or shaving. First, determine your purpose so you can select the right fixture.

For those aiming for a purely decorative effect, hanging lights with upward or downward focus are ideal as they create a pleasant atmosphere. They are perfect for relaxation spaces, too. Try placing them near mirrors, typically in pairs, with one fixture on each side.

For grooming, adjustable spotlights are recommended. Commonly installed in the ceiling, these lights can be aimed directly at the mirror to avoid glare. Alternatively, consider lighting from behind the mirror, such as LED strips around it, resembling a dressing room style. This setup frames the mirror and provides top-notch illumination for self-care tasks.
