Should the Megillah be Unfolded Before Reading?
The congregation should begin reading with the Megillah closed and leave each column they have read open until finally the entire Megillah is spread before them like a letter. However, it is preferable for the prayer leader to unfold the Megillah before reading [Yalkut Yosef p. 493].
Should the Megillah be Read with Cantillation?
Ideally, the Megillah should be read with its cantillation notes, and only if there is no one who knows the cantillation should it be read without them [Yalkut Yosef p. 494].
