Is it permissible to cut a cake in a way that erases the writing on it?

For a cake with letters written in cream, it is good to be stringent about erasing them while eating. If the writing is part of the cake itself, there is no need to be stringent about this (Chazon Ovadia 5, p. 206).

Is a father obligated to keep his son from prohibitions?

It is an obligation for a father to keep his young son [from approximately age three] from prohibitions, such as not eating forbidden foods, not eating meat with milk, and not desecrating Shabbat. For children younger than this age, there is no need to prevent them.

Even though there is no need to prevent a child who does not understand, it is nevertheless forbidden for an adult to cause a child to stumble even in a rabbinical prohibition [Shulchan Aruch 343:1].
