A developer from South Korea has crafted the world's first Braille SmartWatch, featuring all the functionalities we expect from 21st-century technology. Through a specific interface that connects to a smartphone using Bluetooth, this smartwatch can relay unique Braille texts from any app or service.

With buttons on the side, users can send simple messages—a breakthrough given that most blind-accessible digital products have typically relied on sound. The few existing digital Braille devices were previously clunky, expensive, and amateur at best.

After three years in development, the watch, named the SmartWatch Dot, is set for global release in March 2017. Initially, around 100,000 units will hit the London retail market, with each unit priced at $320.
