The amazing story of IDF Captain and Satmar grandson Chaim Meisels
Hidabroot
In this gripping episode, we meet Chaim Meisels, a 29 year old great grandson of the Satmar Rebbe, R’ Beirach Moshe, who chose a very different path from the one he was born into. Chaim left his Satmar life in Williamsburg, made Aliyah, and enlisted in the IDF, eventually serving as a commanding officer in the elite Egoz program and later in Golani. He shares what it was like to go from a sheltered chassidic world to intense combat training, leading soldiers in Gaza, and losing friends on the battlefield. Today Chaim is still active in reserve duty and is deeply involved in helping returning soldiers cope with trauma, rebuild their lives, and stay connected to their faith and purpose.
