The cycle of time teaches us renewal. Just as day and night divide life into compartments, so too the year ends to allow for a new start. Compartmentalization of time (days, weeks, months, years) helps us grow and face life step by step. Elul, the last month of the Jewish year, carries immense spiritual weight. Unlike the future, the past can always be fixed, for teshuva exists beyond time and creation.
