Mesilat Yesharim – Chapter 7

Rabbi Guy Matalon

In Chapter 7, the Ramchal continues his discussion of Zerizut (alacrity), focusing on how to acquire and strengthen this trait. He explains that reflection on the greatness of serving God, the shortness of life, and the immense reward for mitzvot inspires energy and enthusiasm. Just as people exert themselves tirelessly for material gain, one should apply even greater zeal in spiritual pursuits. By internalizing these thoughts, a person can overcome laziness and approach mitzvot with joy and vigor.
