American Astronaut Claims: Aliens Averted World War III

Edgar Mitchell, the 84-year-old former American astronaut and the sixth person to walk on the moon, claims that aliens from outer space prevented a nuclear war between the US and the Soviet Union during the Cold War by intercepting nuclear missiles from both sides.

Mitchell, a well-known believer in aliens, stated in an interview with the British 'Mirror' that senior US military personnel saw alien aircraft during nuclear tests in the deserts of New Mexico as early as 1945. "I've spoken with individuals who witnessed these aliens attempting to prevent us from going to war to create peace on Earth," he says. "Officers from bases along the Pacific coast told me their missiles were frequently intercepted by alien craft." Mitchell also added that the aliens' technology was so advanced they could have destroyed us if they were hostile, but their sole purpose was to ensure that Earth's conflicts did not threaten other planets. He even believes that NASA is aware of the appearance of alien craft but is helping to keep this information from the public. Needless to say, NASA firmly rejects this claim. "Dr. Mitchell is a great American," the organization previously stated, "but we do not share his opinions on this matter."

Nick Pope, a researcher who examined a series of UFO sightings for the US Department of Defense around six years ago, says he is not convinced by Mitchell's claims. "While unexplained UFOs may indeed have been spotted near nuclear and military facilities, just because a UFO is unexplained doesn't mean it's from outer space. Ironically, governments sometimes encouraged belief in UFOs, because if someone sees, say, a secret prototype of a plane or drone, it's better they report it as a flying saucer than what it really is."
