This week, a moving photograph captured the hearts of many worldwide and deeply touched thousands.

The photographer, Tobias Baumgaertner from Australia, received a prestigious award at the Oceanographic Magazine's Photography Awards for 2020.

In the touching photograph, two penguins are depicted with one 'embracing' the other, gazing together into the horizon. "I took this photo in 2019, and I remember these penguins spending hours side by side on a rock overlooking the Melbourne skyline. They simply stood there for hours, just watching the sparkling lights of the skyline and the ocean. A volunteer at the site told me that the penguin with the white back is an elderly lady who lost her partner, and apparently the younger penguin to the left had a similar experience.

"Since then, they have been meeting regularly to console each other. They stand on this rock for hours, watching the lights of the nearby city. I spent three whole nights with the penguins until I managed to capture this moment. I hope you enjoy this moment as much as I did."

According to Tobias, another behavior he witnessed among the penguins was them rubbing each other's feet on each other's backs, helping to clean one another. "I was lucky to see this," he says. The photograph quickly became a sensation on social media worldwide, receiving massive media coverage and earning Tobias hundreds of enthusiastic comments. "It was seen by millions, and I received thousands of messages and comments about how these two penguins touched and moved them. It brought a lot of smiles, joy, hope, and love to people's hearts. It became a symbol of unity and love," he concludes.
