The Breakfast That Could Help You Shed Pounds
Is breakfast truly the most important meal of the day? It just might be, especially when you make it more nutritious and weight-loss friendly. Here's some expert advice.

How many times have you heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Well, it turns out there's a lot of truth to that, and not only can breakfast be incredibly nutritious, but it can also help you lose weight. Nutritionist Dr. Maya Roseman shared on her segment "Good to Know" on Radio 103FM what a breakfast plan that aids weight loss looks like.
"Many of us aren't really hungry in the morning, yet we still reach for something sweet with our first coffee—for energy, or maybe just to start the day with something tasty that lifts our mood without being too heavy on the digestive system. Is this a mistake?" she asked and answered: "From a caloric standpoint, there's no issue with starting your day with a cookie, two dates, or even a slice of whole-grain bread with a little jam. This can certainly fit into a weight-loss diet, as habits sometimes aren't something we want to change. However, it's worth paying attention to a study that compared such a breakfast to one loaded with proteins. Researchers looked into how breakfast content affects appetite throughout the day."
Dr. Roseman explained that the study compared having a breakfast rich in sugar (like cookies or dates), full carbs (like whole-grain bread), or a protein-based breakfast (like an omelet). "According to the results, the breakfast with the omelet (just protein) decreased cravings and snacking urges throughout the day. Does it work for you too? It's worth a try. According to the results, the protein-rich breakfast contributed to a decrease in calorie intake during the entire day, and cravings as well. To experiment—choose a breakfast containing an omelet and salad, or cheese and vegetables."
