Should one gather family members during candle lighting?
When lighting the Chanukah candles, one should ideally gather family members together. If one did not light at the beginning of the night and returns when household members are sleeping, it is good to wake up two of them. If this is not possible, it does not prevent one from lighting with a blessing [Yalkut Yosef, Chanukah, p. 469].
Where should one light the menorah when staying at a hotel?
One who is staying at a hotel should, according to the basic law, light in the bedroom. However, since hotel management typically does not permit this, all guests should participate in purchasing oil and light collectively at the hotel entrance, or each person may light on their room's balcony [Yalkut Yosef, Chanukah, p. 505].
