A new study published in the medical journal 'Nutrients' reveals the amazing benefit of peanuts when consumed specifically 30 minutes before any meal.

The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Texas and the University of South Australia. Their research question was not only how peanuts benefit us but also, and here's the really interesting point - whether slightly salted peanuts might harm our health.

"We examined dozens of volunteers who consumed a small amount of peanuts every day before their meals," the researchers explain. "The results are simply surprising. In one control group, 50 adults who did not touch any nuts or nut-based products were studied, while a second control group of 57 participants was instructed to consume 35 grams of roasted peanuts twice a day, 30 minutes before breakfast and 30 minutes before lunch or dinner."

Although the study lasted six months, it yielded amazing results - the metrics for all 57 people who consumed lightly roasted peanuts were fantastic. Additionally, they all lost weight to some extent. Their blood pressure was also lower, and their fasting glucose levels were balanced.

"Our study found that lightly roasted or natural peanuts are rich in unsaturated fats that assist in weight loss," explains Kristina Petersen, lead researcher and assistant professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Texas. "People looking to diet would do well to eat peanuts 30 minutes before a meal, as peanuts provide a lasting feeling of satiety thanks to their protein content, among other things."

When asked if the salt in peanuts could be harmful, Petersen said, "We are talking about peanuts that are very lightly salted, not those with a lot of salt. Peanuts of any kind contain high levels of an amino acid that lowers blood pressure, magnesium that regulates blood flow and is good for maintaining proper circulation," she concludes.
