Suffering from migraines and dizziness and haven’t heard about the wonders of lavender yet?
Researchers from the University of Vienna, Austria, published an intriguing study on the effects of oil extracted from lavender flowers, and it turns out there are significant results for chronic headaches and dizziness caused by anxiety.
According to the researchers from the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical University of Vienna, lavender oil (known as Silexan in English) has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antidepressant properties.
A similar study was also published by the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, stating that Silexan has been examined in clinical studies for its impact on anxiety, finding that it also affects insomnia and headaches stemming from anxiety.
In the study, 221 adults with various anxiety disorders consumed 80 mg per day of a lavender oil preparation (Lasea) or a placebo for two weeks. The researchers examined Silexan's effects on patients with subsyndromal anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and found positive effects after just two weeks of use, without leaving traces of side effects or different drug interactions.
So how do you use lavender oil, and where can you get it?
Lavender oil is marketed in health food stores and premium pharmacies across the country, but it is not suitable for use in children and infants due to its high concentration of a substance called camphor.
How to use lavender oil to calm anxiety and migraines:
Mix 3 drops of lavender oil with 60 ml of almond oil, and massage your temples in circular motions. Repeat the process daily for two weeks, and the good feeling will not be long in coming.
