A recent study conducted at Maastricht University in the Netherlands found that people who consume nuts daily have a 38% lower chance of developing lung cancer compared to those who do not consume nuts daily.

According to the researchers, this is a very aggressive and deadly type of cancer that quickly affects lung cells and spreads to other parts of the body in the early stages of the disease.

The data was collected over 20 years, and the results are now published in a special lung cancer journal called Lung Cancer. The study included nearly 121,000 men and women aged 55-69. Over the two decades, data on their dietary habits and lifestyle were gathered, and it was found that those who consumed about 5 grams of nuts daily, as mentioned, reduced their chances of developing this type of cancer.

What kind of nuts are we talking about? According to the study, any nut can help fight lung cancer: hazelnuts, cashews, pecans, walnuts, Brazil nuts, and even chestnuts.

However, participants who consumed nuts but also smoked cigarettes were found to be at the same risk of developing cancer as regular people.
