When conventional medicine fails to solve certain problems, many turn to alternative medicine for solutions, and rightly so. Often, alternative medicine offers treatments that succeed where standard methods don't.

One of the most recognized and common methods of alternative medicine is reflexology. This is a very ancient healing method that continues to evolve over the years.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a treatment method based on the idea that there is a kind of "map" of the entire body on the feet. According to reflexology, by massaging and pressing the feet, one can identify, diagnose, and treat various issues throughout the body. Each part of the foot reflects a specific part of the body, and any problem in the body or mind is believed to reflect in the feet. This allows for the diagnosis of physical and emotional issues through the feet and, with appropriate treatment, sometimes aids in addressing these problems.

For example, symptoms of colds, ear infections, bladder infections, high blood pressure, cardiological issues, asthma, diabetes, and more can be identified through the feet. Expert therapists can also identify conditions of stress, anxiety, and similar emotional issues.

Various methods exist in reflexology for the segmentation of the feet and the reflection of body parts, but the most common and accepted method today is the one that maps all areas of the body onto the feet.

Can I Receive Reflexology Treatment?

The answer is yes. Reflexology is suitable for everyone – men and women, adults and children, healthy individuals and those with illnesses. There are only rare cases where reflexology is not recommended, but for most people, it is completely safe without risks.

Moreover, reflexology treatment is not painful; on the contrary, it is pleasant and even pampering. The massage contributes to relaxation, and thus, even before the treatment's effects, it helps alleviate anxiety, stress, pain, and more.

How Long Does It Take for the Treatment to Help?

To achieve a substantial and long-term effect, several reflexology treatments are necessary. One treatment will have a focused impact but only for a short duration. Additionally, after the first and even the second treatment, there might be a slight worsening of symptoms that initially led the patient to reflexology. This is a positive phenomenon, indicating that the treatment has "touched" the right areas. With persistence and continued treatment, consistent and significant relief can be achieved over time.

Is Reflexology Proven?

There are numerous medical studies showing the proven effectiveness of reflexology, with many more ongoing today. Numerous studies demonstrate the effectiveness of reflexology in diagnosing various medical conditions, and others prove its assistance in alleviating different types of pain, treating anxiety, and more. A certain percentage of patients even manage to fully recover from stress and anxiety conditions due to reflexology treatments (although it's important to remember this is a small percentage. Generally, it leads to relief and assistance). There is research indicating that reflexology helps stimulate blood circulation, among others.

It's important to remember that this is a professional treatment, so seeking a professional and certified therapist is crucial to avoid harm and to enjoy the treatment's effectiveness.
