What is prayer with a minyan?
The essence of prayer with a minyan is to stand with the congregation during the silent prayer (Amidah). If one did not stand with them during the silent prayer but did stand with them during the prayer leader's repetition, his prayer is still considered a prayer with the congregation [Yechaveh Da'at 5, 7].
If the majority of a minyan has not yet prayed, and a minority has already prayed, is it considered prayer with a minyan?
Those who pray with a minyan where the majority has not yet prayed, and a minority of the minyan joining them has already prayed, their prayer is considered a prayer with a congregation. This is because the majority of a minyan is considered like the entire minyan [Yechaveh Da'at 5, 7].
