She Placed a Bowl of Water and Onion Next to Her Bed, and in the Morning She Discovered That...
Coughing but can't bear to swallow raw onion? Here is one of the best methods to alleviate a cough, now doctor-approved.

Coughing is the body's way of expelling irritants from the respiratory tract, and its causes are numerous and varied. A cough can stem from allergies, asthma, pneumonia, flu, a cold, and more.
Coughing is a normal phenomenon, but if it persists for a week or more, it is advisable to see a doctor and receive appropriate medical treatment. Many people, justifiably, resist various chemical medications, which often worsen the problem and bring additional inflammation, and therefore seek alternative treatments to the conventional approach.
One of these is the onion.
Dr. Edward, from the Global Healing Center, is among dozens of doctors who support this method, which they claim originates from traditional Chinese medicine. "The idea that onions have strong properties that might ward off winter illnesses dates back thousands of years," he writes in one of his articles. "The ancient Greeks rubbed onion on sore muscles, Native Americans used it to heal colds and flus, and the World Health Organization recognized the onion's ability to help reduce flu symptoms – including congestion, respiratory infections, cough, and bronchitis".
He states, "Some traditions even recommended placing sliced onions beside the bed at night or in hidden places around the home to prevent the spread of the flu. However, it should be noted that one of the most common ways to contract the flu is through contact with contaminated surfaces or people carrying the virus".
Dr. Edward backed his statements with various studies that proved that onions indeed have healing power, not necessarily limited to the respiratory system. "Delmar's Integrative Guide, for instance, states that onions help break down or cleanse the immune system of phlegm or other substances that prevent it from doing its job properly".
In response to his words, an internet user named Rebecca wrote the following: "I can testify that everything written here is true. For two weeks, I suffered from a severe cough that wouldn't leave me and infected my husband and children as well. Being a devotee of natural remedies, I decided to search Google for what helps with a severe cough and came across numerous articles on the natural healing abilities of onions.
"I don't particularly enjoy swallowing raw onion, so I decided to try the second option and place onion slices by the bed overnight. The smell was indeed unbearable, but it's insignificant compared to the fact that I woke up to a new and wonderful morning – almost without a cough.
"I don't know how this happened or what the scientific explanation is, but I am proof that it's true. On the following nights, I did it again for my husband and children, and we also saw improvement within a few days. It's truly a miracle formula against cough".
So what should you do?
Chop a white or purple onion into small cubes and place them in a small glass bowl.
Pour boiling water over the onion shortly before going to sleep.
Place the bowl beside your bed or under it, and go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, you won't believe how much your cough has improved.
