When discussing types of food, most of us notice that our bodies react slightly harshly to foods like amba, fenugreek, and even vegetables like carrots and beets. Furthermore, certain types of food can be downright deadly for specific individuals if consumed excessively - as happened a few years ago in Britain, to a woman who nearly paid with her life when she consumed an overdose of broccoli and kale.

So why does this happen?

The main problem is the substances contained in these types of food, which our bodies find somewhat difficult to digest with the help of gut bacteria, especially when it comes to large quantities.

Less life-threatening symptoms like excessive urination result from eating vegetables that have diuretic components (like asparagus).

What are the side effects of the four types of foods that cause us all to experience these symptoms?

1. The pigment that gives beets their red color is called betalains, and when eaten excessively, it can color urine in a red-purple hue. For most people, it also stimulates bowel activity, and although there's no life threat for healthy individuals, it's advisable to consume it in moderation.

2. Legumes are also hard on our intestines and often cause the unpleasant effect of gas. Some legumes contain substances called oligosaccharides. These substances create additional compounds that the body cannot handle because it lacks the appropriate enzyme to break them down. When these substances reach the colon, they need to be broken down slowly. A part of this metabolic process is the gas produced.

3. Let's talk for a moment about orange foods, like carrots. It's true they are healthy and tasty, but it's important to know that consuming them in excess (along with all other orange foods like sweet potatoes and pumpkin) can turn your skin orange, thanks to the high levels of Vitamin A they contain.

4. Amba and fenugreek are foods made from very spicy additives like curry, which release a bad odor from the body as their consumption increases. Spicy foods such as curry cause the body to produce a high amount of sulfur-containing compounds, some of which enter the bloodstream and are released through our sweat glands, resulting in a particularly strong odor.
