#VALUE!
What really raises our blood sugar levels, aside from sugary foods? One of the most surprising things we never considered is diet foods that are completely sugar-free.
The reason is that to keep them sugar-free, manufacturers add large amounts of other harmful substances like carbohydrates and starches, known as catalysts for raising sugar levels. But they are not the only ones. The list is long and intricate: Chinese food, mental stress and pressure, energy drinks, white flour products, steroids, and even... dried fruits that contain massive amounts of sugar.
What are the signs that your blood sugar has risen? Here are seven important signs to know:
Drastic Weight Loss
Unbalanced blood sugar levels may lead to drastic weight loss. This phenomenon occurs when glucose does not enter the cells from the insulin hormone, and fearing it might 'starve', insulin begins to break down proteins from the muscle to gain energy. As a result of its breakdown, the kidneys also start working under increased pressure to get rid of the excess sugar reaching them - and the result is catastrophic.
Constant Thirst
One of the more distinct signs that blood sugar has risen is the fact that we are constantly thirsty and our mouth is dry - a phenomenon that occurs when our body tries to fight and restore the fluids we lose along with the 'excess' glucose that the kidneys clean.
Frequent Hunger Attacks
The frequent feeling of hunger for someone suffering from diabetes is due to a sudden change in blood sugar level - sometimes rising and sometimes falling. When this happens, the body goes into a kind of defense mode because it feels it does not have enough food, and then 'signals' us it's time to eat, and we should consume food rich in sugar and fat so the cells get energy.
Frequent Urination
Frequent urination is another distinct sign of diabetes.
Itching and Dry Skin
If your skin tends to be dry in different areas of the body and you find yourself itching more than usual, without any visible reason, this could be a warning light that you are beginning to develop the disease.
