What Happens If You Eat One Egg a Day? It's Now Scientific

What happens to your body if you consume one egg a day? Just good things, and now it's scientific. A new study by American researchers found that eating one egg a day for six months significantly increased the production of two brain-essential nutrients. "Eggs have many essential components crucial for the organism growing inside - but not only," says the study leader.

If until now we assumed that daily egg consumption was bad and that it was better not to consume more than three eggs a week, a new American study now disproves all such claims, presenting new evidence suggesting that it's actually beneficial to eat one egg a day.

The study was led by scientists from Washington University, and its results were recently published in the medical journal Clinical Nutrition. The study examined 163 infants aged six to nine months over approximately a year. The researchers compared a group of children who received one egg a day with another group that did not, and they were amazed: the study results were unequivocal.

In the bodies of infants who consumed one egg a day, two components called choline and omega-3 fatty acids were found – both are crucial for brain development and cognitive processes. "Humans have consumed eggs since the dawn of history, but their contribution to our bodies has not been sufficiently recognized," says Laura Yanotti, the study leader.

According to her, the egg contains essential components intended to safely nurture the organism within it – and those nourishing materials are also beneficial for those who consume it, both infants and adults alike.
