Many of us have been planning for years for that 'one day' when everything will change: the space in the pantry taken up by sweets, fatty snacks, and baked goods will finally be filled with truly healthy products. These don't just improve our health but also swiftly rid our bodies of toxins and unnecessary substances.
How can you do this? First and foremost, you need to make a decisive decision, because as they say... it all starts and ends in the mind. Once you've decided, it will be easier to implement the other changes, which we have arranged in front of you in simple, easy steps that will make your kitchen a little healthier than it is today. Yes, it means abandoning bad habits we've adopted until now, but after the kids return from the Talmud Torah full of energy, you'll agree it was worth it:
The first and most important step is...
Stop purchasing processed food. What does that mean? Foods that contain preservatives, emulsifiers, flavorings, various acids, and products with the letter E on them.
It is true that many products are like this, but many products that are like this can be replaced with other - homemade - products. And this brings us to the second step.
The second step...
Ketchup, bread, cheese, various pastries, hummus spread, pastrami, and ketchup - you can replace all of these with homemade products that you make entirely yourself. Sounds daunting? It's actually simpler than you might think: in the internet age, you can find hundreds of kosher recipes for making these products at home, with a significant and very worthwhile advantage: your products are many times healthier than what the industry produces for you.
The third step
The principle is to stay away from industrial products as much as possible and to prefer products closer to the earth, such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, and legumes. Eggs, cheese, meat, and fish can be consumed in moderation.
The fourth step
Give up on various soup powders. If you add herbs such as cilantro, parsley, dill, and favorite spices and vegetables like onions and garlic - your soups will be delicious even without this unhealthy addition.
The fifth step
Bake a lot? Try replacing 50% of the white flour with whole wheat flour or spelt flour.
The sixth step
Going shopping? Don't buy too many vegetables, but only the amount you will use in the coming days. Vegetables left in the refrigerator for a long time lose their nutritional value, and that's a shame.
The seventh step
Do the kids love sweets and snacks? Make healthy chocolate balls with them, date and coconut balls, and nut and halva balls. Kids are excited about the process itself, and they enjoy it just like we do from their handiwork. Take advantage of this fact, look for natural candy recipes, and stay as far away as possible from industrial sweets.
