Our intense, stressful lives, along with unhealthy diets, often lead to severe swelling in the legs. How can we naturally overcome this issue? Dr. John Christopher, a renowned American author and blogger, shares a wonderful recipe with just two ingredients that "solves the problem, reduces swelling, and eases edema pain," according to him.
According to Dr. Christopher, leg swelling may also result from various biological processes happening inside us, poor blood circulation, sudden obesity, hard physical labor, kidney failure, painkillers like Ibuprofen, hormonal treatments, heart failure, lymphatic system blockage, blood clots in the leg, and even... weather changes.
Those who frequently suffer from leg swelling know how annoying and painful it can be, and most relief guidelines come down to elevating the legs to at least 40 cm. "If you don't have serious health problems, you can treat this condition at home with parsley tea," says Dr. Christopher. "For treating edema, I recommend consuming tea made from organic parsley, about two liters a day, to achieve optimal results."
Parsley acts as a natural diuretic, and also performs a detoxification process in our body.
So how do you make parsley tea? Here are the steps:
1. Chop the fresh leaves and roots, filling a quarter cup.
2. Place the leaves in a strainer and pour boiling water over them. Alternatively, you can put the leaves in a cup with boiling water for five minutes, then strain the water and drink.
3. Optional: You can sweeten the tea with a bit of honey, silan, or lemon.
Dr. Christopher shares additional tips, saying that those who frequently suffer from swollen legs should eat foods high in water content such as grapes, watermelon, cucumber, and tomatoes, while reducing the intake of processed foods and salt.
