A Mother's Post About Her Child 'Exposed' to Chickenpox Goes Viral
To vaccinate or not to vaccinate - that's the pressing question for many parents. For Camelia Ecole, a pediatric nurse from the USA, the answer is crystal clear: "Dear parents, if you believe your child could develop autism from vaccines, please educate yourself further. There isn't a single reliable study that supports this claim."

#VALUE!
There isn't a parent who hasn't faced the dilemma of whether to vaccinate their child. Camelia Ecole, a pediatric nurse who was forced to hospitalize her daughter Emily after she was exposed to chickenpox, shared one of the most thought-provoking posts we've encountered online. "I've never shared my thoughts on the trend of 'not vaccinating children' on social media," Camelia writes on her Facebook page. "I've seen many clever posts from parents who think that if their child isn't vaccinated, there's no danger to others as long as they are vaccinated."
In her opinion, this is fundamentally mistaken, and this is why: "There are people like my daughter who can't be vaccinated - since she had a kidney transplant at the age of two. She received the first chickenpox vaccine but couldn't receive the second because her immune system is weak. Instead of developing immunity to the disease, she would likely catch the virus itself."
"But last weekend, she was exposed to a child with chickenpox, and now she's in the ER - undergoing blood tests and receiving injections and antibodies. Despite everything we're doing, she may develop the disease in the next three weeks."
"It's very dangerous for her to be near unvaccinated sick children - she could become extremely sick because of this. So I'm begging you, dear parents, if you believe your child could develop autism from vaccinations, educate yourselves a bit more on the subject. In reality, there isn't a single established study that concludes this is true, and people who choose not to vaccinate their children are putting the lives of other children, like my daughter, at risk."
"She's already been through so much, and each little puncture on her body puts her at risk. But the saddest part is thinking that cases like this could easily have been avoided - if other parents would vaccinate their children."
