#VALUE!
The author of the study, Robert Lustig, a pediatric endocrinology expert at the UCSF Benioff Children\'s Hospital in San Francisco, replaced the sugar intake of 43 obese children with starch and found that after just nine days, "everything improved." The children\'s cholesterol levels improved, and their blood sugar levels dropped significantly.

Dr. Lustig states, "These findings support the critical idea for parents to evaluate sugar consumption and be aware of the health impacts of what their children consume."

According to him, sugar is dangerous not because of its calories, but because of the stress it places on our body\'s metabolism.

However, Lustig clarifies that his research "does not prove that sugar is the sole cause of metabolic disease," but it "clearly shows the change."

Why Should You Avoid Consuming Sugar?
Dr. Idan Goren, a medical consultant and physician in the internal medicine department at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, and a lecturer in internal medicine at the Ono Academic College, explains that despite being one of life\'s pleasures, high levels of sugar in the blood can be risky. Why? It all lies in the glucose.
Goren argues that "glucose serves as fuel for the operation of all cells in the body, and its entry into cells is regulated by the hormone insulin. However, a high glucose concentration over time is a kind of time bomb. High blood glucose affects insulin production in the pancreas and reduces the response of body cells to insulin. Additionally, high blood sugar levels cause direct damage to the walls of blood vessels, leading to atherosclerosis and multi-system damage.
The damages of diabetes include, among other things, damage to the kidneys, vision, heart muscle, blood vessels, brain, and peripheral nerves. Moreover, high blood sugar levels lead to impotence in men and impair wound healing abilities, and in extreme cases, limb amputation may be required."
