New data released today (Wednesday) by the World Health Organization show that life expectancy in Israel is among the highest in the world. The average life expectancy between men and women is 82.5 years, ranking eighth globally. By gender, women's life expectancy in Israel is 84.3 years, placing them eighth, while men's life expectancy is 80.6 years, ranking fourth, after Ireland, Switzerland, and Iceland.

The data on the quality of medical services here are also very good, placing Israel low in mortality from severe diseases, including heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and diabetes for ages 30 to 70. This index also indicates the quality of community and hospital medical services, as well as the level of preventive medicine and health education in the population.

In this index, Israel ranks very high, fifth in the world, with only a 9.3% risk of dying from severe diseases. Israel is behind Iceland, South Korea, Japan, Switzerland, and Sweden, and far ahead of Western countries considered advanced, such as France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States.

The report also reveals that the vaccination rate in Israel reaches about 94%. According to updated data from the Ministry of Health, the vaccination rate is even higher, ranging between 95 and 97 percent.

Alcohol consumption in Israel is among the lowest worldwide, with Eastern European countries like Moldova, Russia, and Romania leading in alcohol consumption. Israel ranks relatively low, far behind most European countries, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.

The report also states that due to the quality of medical service, infant and maternal mortality rates during and up to a month after childbirth are among the lowest worldwide. In Israel, the infant mortality rate up to a month after birth is four per thousand live births annually, and the maternal mortality rate is five per thousand births.

The World Health Organization's report, published annually in May, includes data from 117 member countries. The report encompasses parameters such as life expectancy, maternal and infant mortality at birth, child mortality, sanitation status, alcohol and drug use rates, vaccination rates, and the chances of surviving severe diseases.
