Love Avocados? Here’s the Tip to Keep Them Fresh Longer

Too hard, too soft, and... oh no - not edible anymore. Avocados have a short shelf life, but how can we maximize our enjoyment of them? The following tip will explain it all.

Avocado is one of the most sought-after (and equally delicious) fruits available. However, to enjoy it, we must purchase it when it’s in 'medium' condition - that is, neither too hard nor too ripe. Avocados have a short shelf life, and we often have to throw away fruits that have over-ripened until they become rotten and inedible.

So what to do? One option is to buy the fruit when it is hard (usually more expensive) and wait for it to ripen. But if you’re a fan of various spreads, another option available to you is - freezing the avocado in such a way that it remains fresh and ready to spread at any time. (In this way, by the way, you can freeze all your favorite fruits, without getting caught up in calculating when to buy and how long to wait until they are ripe enough, but not rotten).

And now, to the task:

1. Take all the cheap, soft avocado you purchased and let them ripen at room temperature, preferably in a bowl with apples and bananas, which will speed up the process.

2. After they reach medium ripeness, cut each avocado in half and remove the pit.

3. On the halves obtained, drizzle a few drops of fresh lemon or lemon juice.

4. Place the avocado halves in a vacuum-sealed freezer bag, with the air removed.

5. Place the bag in the freezer for at least three days, and remove the fruit from the peel when you intend to eat it. This way, your avocado will remain fresh, tasty, and without any aftertaste - anytime.
