The fact that green leaves contribute significantly to our health and to strengthening various systems in our bodies is widely known. A new study conducted at the University of Chicago confirms this knowledge and claims that consuming a daily portion of spinach rejuvenates the brain by about a decade and prevents dementia (a decline in normal human functioning due to memory weakening, concentration capability, and other mental functions).
As part of the study, researchers examined nearly a thousand young men and women over a five-year period of their lives - from age 18 to 23. During these five years, participants regularly completed questionnaires detailing their daily food intake. The study's results showed that participants who consumed a lot of green leaves, particularly spinach, had younger and healthier brains. Now, the researchers are about to present their findings at a special conference organized by the American Society for Nutrition (ASN), which will be held soon.
