#VALUE!
Last week we began exploring the qualities of wheat, and mentioned that one way to harness its potential is through sprouting. This time, I want to focus on "wheatgrass". Using wheatgrass to treat various issues was pioneered by Dr. Ann Wigmore around fifty years ago, and has gained momentum in recent years in the country by Dr. Pnina Bar Sela. This juice is rich in digestive enzymes vital for the efficient functioning of the digestive system and its various organs, as well as rich in minerals and vitamins. It contains 17 amino acids essential for protein building in the body, improves liver cleansing and function, detoxifies the body, and enhances blood circulation. It builds the blood in cases of anemia and serves many other functions. In natural medicine, wheatgrass is used to treat severe illnesses such as arthritis, high blood pressure, constipation, diabetes, tooth decay, mouth ulcers, herpes, and more.
Wheatgrass can be easily grown at home in several ways:
A. Take a small wooden crate, a pot, or similar, fill it with soil (preferably red) mixed with organic compost. Soak wheat seeds (preferably organic) in water for several hours and then sow them densely. After a few days, green grass will appear. When it reaches a height of 10 - 15 cm, harvest the grass. The existing seeds can sprout another 2 - 3 times. Then, re-sow new seeds.
B. You can also grow the grass through sprouting. Soak wheat seeds in water overnight. Then spread them densely on a strainer with tight holes. Ensure they remain moist at all times, so pour water on them several times throughout the day. After a few days, green leaves will appear. Once the leaves reach a height of 10 - 15 cm, you can harvest them. (This method is slightly less effective).
C. You can purchase wheatgrass juice ready for juicing.
D. You can also buy ready-made grass juice. Although it is less high-quality than freshly squeezed juice.
Preparing the juice: The juice is made using a special electric or manual wheatgrass juicer.
The recommended daily amount of juice to drink is 50 ml. More can be consumed if suitable. It is important to drink on an empty stomach and wait half an hour to an hour before eating. For those who find the taste of the juice difficult, it can be diluted with water or a little other juice such as cucumber or celery juice. In any case, it is not recommended to drink in the evening.
