Sometimes people arrive at the clinic with high levels of stress. Often the stress is not only due to psychological factors but also physical ones. For example, a person came with severe constipation, and a simple inquiry revealed that the constipation worsens primarily in stressful situations. In such cases, it is crucial to address the stress present in the person's life, and merely consuming fiber-rich foods suitable for constipation is not sufficient. In this situation, it became clear that the patient had a deficiency in vitamin B, which is vital for the health of the nervous system. He indeed began taking vitamin B, and the effect was not delayed - he became a more relaxed person, and this had an impact on treating the constipation. B vitamins are part of a large group of vitamins.
What are vitamins? Vitamins play countless roles in the body. They help process food and produce energy, participate in building blood cells and various hormones. Their importance lies in supporting the immune system in the prevention of different diseases, and more.
Vitamins can be found in plants - in fruits and vegetables, thus consuming a variety and abundance will supply the body with a reserve of vitamins. It is important to know that the safest source of vitamins is food in its natural state that has not undergone any changes, as they are destroyed by heat, light, contact with metal, air, and various chemicals. Therefore, the food from which we want to get vitamins should be raw and fresh, uncooked, and as much as possible whole.
What about vitamins in the form of dietary supplements? Opinions are divided on this question: some say not to use vitamin-containing dietary supplements at all, as they can and should be obtained only from food. However, against this view, it is argued that many people do not eat raw and fresh food. Everything they eat is processed, which hinders the absorption of vitamins in the body.
Moreover, the quality of food in terms of its vitamin content and quality depends on different factors, such as how the food was grown in the field, how the soil was fertilized, whether it was picked when it was already ripe or when it was still immature, how it was stored, and other questions. Hence, some argue that vitamins should be taken regularly as part of the meal.
Apparently, the truth lies in the middle, and each case should be examined individually. That is, what is the person's condition: what is the variety of their diet, the amount of food, any conditions they suffer from, etc. Based on these questions, the appropriate approach for that person should be determined. In other words, maybe this treatment should be supplemented with a suitable vitamin, in addition to the basic diet.
