The Miracles Within: How Human Biology and Jewish Wisdom Reveal a Higher Design
Discover the scientific wonders and spiritual insights that point to purpose and Divine guidance

If the most respected medical professors in the world were asked to take a baby and raise him for a week inside a bathtub filled with water — feeding him and caring for him there, they would need dozens of ambulances and hundreds of medical staff, and even then they likely wouldn’t succeed. And that’s for one baby.
If we look closely, we discover that God does this every single day for tens of thousands of babies — inside their mothers’ wombs.
The womb is a complete miracle: A baby grows inside a “barrel” of water, breathing through a tube that exits the womb and connects to his navel like a plug into a socket. He breathes through the umbilical cord. He eats through the umbilical cord. Everything happens through the umbilical cord.
Today we know how many complications come with a feeding tube invented by doctors — infections, discomfort, constant adjustments, pain… Yet the unborn baby, who knows absolutely nothing, cannot move or understand anything, is connected for nine months to a perfect “feeding tube” made by Heaven — a simple piece of flesh, no human intervention, no infections, no pain, no scars. And all of this while he is submerged in liquid — and he doesn’t choke!
A person can return to faith not from a lecture or a book, but simply from looking at birth. When bread comes out of the oven, you understand that someone mixed the dough. There is a known creative process. A woman giving birth receives into her arms a creation that cannot be understood. Is it possible to create something so wondrous inside a womb for nine months without any outside assistance? The mother’s body contains a full, self-running clinic for the fetus — a sophisticated medical system operating automatically, without the help of a single human hand!
Can such wonders — full of planning, coordination, and purpose, truly arise without a Higher Hand guiding and sustaining them?
Come to Me
One day, while preparing a bottle of formula for my little daughter, I said to her as she sat one meter away: “Who wants to eat? Come to Daddy…”
My dear wife told me, “Go to her and give it to her — she’s hungry.”
I said, “Of course I could give her the bottle directly, without waiting or playing games, because I already know she’s hungry. But it moves me more when she walks toward me, even a few steps, because she wants me to give her the bottle.”
Suddenly I understood a powerful lesson about what God wants from us. God knows exactly what we lack and what we need. He is all-powerful and could give us everything without us asking. But He wants us to come to Him — to seek closeness. He wants His beloved children to maintain a relationship with Him, to turn to Him, to request from Him.
A person who yearns for God, who truly wants a connection, who wants to speak to Him — God will always come toward him, giving him lovingly what he needs.
Why Are Tears Salty?
The salt in tears, which flows from our eyes when we cry, is found in all bodily fluids. Tears are mostly water, but they also contain glucose and salts. They are salty because they are rich in minerals.
Salt, like water, has a vital function in the body — as long as it’s in the right amount. Salt helps bodily organs function properly and is one of the best natural bacteria-killers.
Why is this especially important for the eyes? Our eyes constantly come into contact with foreign particles such as dust, dirt, and irritants, which poses a real danger of infection in such a delicate organ. This is where our salty tears come in. The salt in the tear fluid kills incoming bacteria immediately, protecting the vulnerable cornea and the delicate tissues of the eye.
Tears are literally the “security guards” of our eyes. We should thank the “Master Chemist” who designed their precise and effective composition.
Stop Dodging!
“Stop dodging! Join the army! The army protects you — not some imaginary book!” So said my atheist friend.
He continued: “You claim Torah learning protects us. So what would happen if, hypothetically, there was no army and all of Israel learned Torah? Who would fight for us? If that happens, there will no longer be a Jewish nation!”
I smiled. He thinks he has a winning argument, but he doesn’t.
I replied excitedly:
“Wow — if that happens, not only won’t there be war, but we won’t even need to fear war! Because if all of Israel learns Torah — the Mashiach will come, redemption will arrive, the Temple will be rebuilt, the dead resurrected, world peace (‘the wolf shall dwell with the lamb’) — and countless miracles.”
Before I finished, he rolled his eyes and said, “You’ve lost your mind. Without an army, we’ll be wiped out.”
I switched tactics. He doesn’t believe in Torah or spirituality at all — so of course he’ll respond this way. I said: “Your ‘strong army’ was founded only about 70 years ago. But the Jewish people survived 2,000 years of exile as a scattered, persecuted minority — hunted, oppressed, massacred, without an army, without tanks, without fighter jets. Not a single generation passed without attempts to wipe us out. And yet the Jewish people survived with pride — without a military!”
“So tell me,” I asked, “How did the Jewish people survive against all odds, without an army?”
He was silent. He had no explanation for the eternal survival of the Jewish nation without the IDF.
Our existence is above nature.
The Same — But Different
One of the greatest scientific puzzles in embryology is this: All cells in the human body contain the same DNA, because they all originate from the single fertilized cell (sperm + egg). If all cells have identical DNA — the same instruction manual, how can it be that they become different types of cells? It’s as if each cell “reads a different chapter” of the manual.
How does each cell “know” what to do? How does it know which type of cell to become? How does it know whether it belongs to the 16th vertebra or to the right frontal lobe of the brain? How do distinct structures — head, spine, organs — emerge in their exact locations?
A look into this biological process reveals a precise system that makes life possible. The design of such a stunning mechanism — one that both replicates cells and creates specific organs at the perfect time and place — points unmistakably to a Designer with infinite genius and limitless ability.
