Who Will Protect Israel If Everyone Studies Torah? 5 Points to Ponder
How can introspection on images lead to repentance? Why do we pray to Hashem if He already knows our needs? Why are tears salty, and how do cells develop into different organs despite having the same DNA?

Growing Inside a Barrel of Water
If the most esteemed medical professors in the world were asked to take care of a baby for a week inside a tub of water, feeding and watering it there, I think we'd need to call dozens of ambulances and hundreds of staff members, and still, they wouldn't succeed. All of this for just one baby.
Yet, if we observe, we discover that the Creator does this every day for tens of thousands of babies inside their mothers' wombs!
The womb is nothing short of a great miracle: a baby grows inside a "barrel" of water, breathing through a tube that exits from the womb and connects to its navel like a plug to an outlet. It breathes and eats through the navel—everything through the navel.
Today, we know how many problems and complications exist with feeding tubes invented by doctors—issues, infections, pain, needing to remove and replace it frequently. And in contrast, this small fetus, unaware of anything by itself, doesn't move, doesn't understand, is connected for nine months to a divine feeding tube, a simple piece of flesh without doctors' intervention, without pain, scars, or infections! Let’s not forget all this happens while it’s placed inside a vessel full of water without choking!
Friends, repentance can come not only from a lecture or a CD but even from observing images of birth. When you see bread come out of an oven, you understand that someone kneaded dough from flour; there's a known creative process. A mother, on the other hand, receives into her arms a creation that can't be understood. How is it possible to create such a marvelous thing inside a womb for nine months without external help? In fact, inside the mother's body, there's a complete clinic for the fetus, a sophisticated clinic operating autonomously without human hands' help!
Could these wonders, indicating planning, coordination, and purpose, have been created without a higher hand overseeing?
Approach Me
One day, while preparing formula for my little daughter, I said to her as she sat a meter away, "Who wants to eat? Come to Daddy." My dear wife said, "Approach her and give her the food; she’s hungry."
I said, "I can just give her the bottle straight to her mouth without waiting and playing, as I already know she’s hungry. But I’m more touched when she approaches me a few steps and wants me to give her the bottle."
Suddenly, I understood a lesson, what the Creator wants from us. How so?
The Creator knows well what we lack and need. He can give us everything without us asking! But He wants us to approach Him, to seek closeness. He desires His beloved children to keep a connection with Him, to turn to Him, to ask from Him.
A person who longs for the Creator, who truly wants God, who wants to talk, to be in contact with Him—the Creator will always come towards him and lovingly give him what he needs...
Why Are Tears Salty?
Everyone knows tears are salty. But why, exactly?
The salt in tears, which exits our eyes when we cry, is actually present in all body fluids. Tears are mostly water, but they also contain glucose and salts. Hence, tears are salty because they're permeated with salts.
Just like water, salt has a vital role in our bodies, provided it's in the right amount. Salt helps body organs function well, mainly because it's very effective in eliminating bacteria.
But why is there a risk of bacteria in the eyes specifically?
Indeed, like our entire body, our eyes occasionally come into contact with foreign objects. This actually happens constantly, raising significant concerns about infections in the sensitive human eye. But here the role of salty fluid that the eyes secrete comes in—the tears we're discussing. Through the salt, tears repel bacteria that might infiltrate from unclean objects to the delicate cornea and other highly sensitive parts of the eyes.
The salt in our tears immediately kills the bacteria, thus protecting our precious and important eyes. So, tears are our "eye guards," and therefore, we must thank every day anew the "chemist" who created the tear composition so accurately and efficiently...
Stop Avoiding It!
"Stop avoiding it! Enlist! The army protects you, not studying from some imaginary book...," said my atheist friend.
He continues: "You claim that studying Torah protects us, so what do you think will happen if there's no army, and all of Israel, without exception, studies Torah? Who will fight for us? If that happens, there will be no more Israel!" he concluded decisively.
I smiled... Although he thinks he has a winning argument, this is not the case at all. I responded excitedly, "Wow, if this happens, not only won't there be war, but we won't have to fear war! Why? Because if all of Israel studies Torah, the Messiah will come, there will be redemption, a Temple, resurrection... world peace ("the wolf will dwell with the lamb") and many more miracles."
As I continued enthusiastically, my friend rolled his eyes in disdain and told me, "You're really crazy! Without an army, they'll destroy us."
I changed course, as he was a friend who didn’t believe in anything. He did not recognize the Torah's value, so it's clear he would react like that...
So, I presented him with a simpler argument and told him this: "Your 'strong' army was established about 70 years ago, but the Jewish people, for 2000 years of exile, were a hunted, tortured, and exterminated minority, scattered worldwide. There wasn’t a generation where they didn’t stand against the Jewish people to destroy us, and yet, throughout history, the Jewish people survived proudly, without an army, tanks, or fighter jets!
And I ask you, how could it be that without an army, Israel survived against all odds?
The friend was silent... Even he had no explanation for the eternity of the Jewish people without the IDF.
Indeed, our existence is beyond nature.
The Same, but Different
This is one of the most engaging questions in the scientific world regarding fetal development:
All our body's cells have the same DNA, since all the body's cells were genetically replicated from the first cell formed by the meeting of sperm and egg. If so, if they all have the same DNA—the same instruction book. How can it be that cells containing the same genetic material (DNA) differentiate into different types of cells? It seems as if each cell "reads" a different chapter in the instruction book...
How does each cell "know" what it needs to do and what type of cell it should become? How does each cell "know" if it belongs to the 16th vertebra in the spinal column or the right hemisphere of the brain? How are templates for the head, spine, and various organs in the human body created?
Looking into the biological process reveals an exact plan that allows for life. The design of such an amazing system, which on one hand replicates the body cells, and on the other hand creates different organs at different places in a wonderful timing, points to a designer with infinite genius and unlimited ability!
