What Did Our Sages Know Long Before the Scientists Discovered It? 5 Thought-Provoking Points
Why do we yawn, and why do we sneeze? What is the automatic filtration system operating in our bodies? Also: How can inanimate become animate?

Yawning
In the last few nights, I slept very little, between three to four hours each night. Today, I just couldn't stop yawning, a yawn every few minutes! Despite my efforts to control myself and try not to yawn, especially not in company, I didn't succeed...
Then I asked myself: why do we yawn, anyway? At first glance, it's something unnecessary and quite annoying, no? However, it turns out to be the exact opposite!
It is a mechanism created for our benefit, a miracle and kindness from the Creator of the World. Notice: Firstly, yawning is like a "reminder" for us that our body needs rest and sleep. Similar to the vibration of our cell phones a few moments before they "die", reminding us to charge them, so is yawning towards sleep.
Secondly, when we are very tired, yawning serves as an internal defense mechanism that prevents us from falling asleep. Yawning increases our alertness by stretching muscles and joints, thereby helping the body fight increasing fatigue. We can say that yawning helps us avoid dangers that could happen if we suddenly fall asleep... Think, for instance, how dangerous it would be to suddenly fall asleep while driving or walking on a sidewalk near the road... It's an essential internal mechanism for us, with a clear purpose - to protect us!
The wonder intensifies in knowing this mechanism is beyond our control. "Someone" decided to "install" this mechanism in our body, in a way not dependent on us or our control... Who is it that cares for and protects us?
The World is Round
There are many scientific discoveries that were revealed long after being known and revealed in the Torah of Israel!
Astoundingly, some scientific insights appearing in the Torah are secrets of nature that modern science can only understand with advanced electronic aids, while in the Torah, they are defined clearly and accurately.
Want an example? Here you go.
It sounds bizarre, but it's known that until about 500 years ago, it was believed that the earth was a vast flat expanse supported by four mighty elephants standing on a giant turtle floating in an endless ocean...
Only when America was discovered in 1492 did people begin to understand that the shape of the world is actually spherical and not flat. This view that the earth is round gained ground and, in recent generations, received a scientific, definitive, and clear stamp with photos of the earth from space (and thanks to Galileo for inventing the telescope in 1609).
And if I tell you that this discovery and other scientific insights were already mentioned in the Zohar about 2000 years ago? (Zohar, Vayikra, page 10, a) And so it says (translated from Aramaic):
"...All of civilization revolves in a circle like a sphere (all the inhabitants of the world and humanity revolve in a circle like a sphere) some below and some above (some - dwelling below, at the bottom of the sphere, and others above) and all these creatures differ in appearance due to the differences in climate depending on each place, yet they exist as other human beings do. (They stay within their existence as other humans do). And thus there is a place in the world (and therefore there is a place in the world) where it is bright for some, dark for others. For some it is day, for others it is night. (When it is light for some, it is dark for others. For some, it is day, for others, night) and there is a place in the world that is always day, with only a short time of night..."
How did the Zohar know this? They did not have the sophisticated scientific tools we have today! Isn't this evidence that the Torah of Israel, which carries these scientific insights, was not written by a human source but by the Creator of Creation who wrote the Torah?
La-la-la Achoo!...
It's a very familiar sensation. It starts with a tickle inside the nose and a feeling that something is going to happen in seconds, without any ability to prevent it... Say hello to "Achoo" (sneeze)!
Sneezing is one of the body's natural defense mechanisms whose main purpose is to protect our body, expel foreign invaders that might cause illness, and prevent their entrance into the respiratory pathways and lungs.
The goal of sneezing is to clean the airways. Throughout the day, thousands of microorganisms and different particles enter the body, mainly through the nose. When the nasal hairs are overly stimulated, a reflex operates - an action beyond our control, causing a burst of air from the lungs through the nose and mouth at high speed - that is the "Achoo"...

Not only is sneezing an important part of the body's immune system, but it also protects our airway, keeping the nose ready for the basic and crucial operation – breathing.
Who is it that programmed our body to "respond" immediately and with intensity whenever a "foreign invader" enters our respiratory pathways?
Inanimate Becomes Animated?!
Want another logical proof of Hashem's existence? It happens around you quite often, and you don't even notice it. You just have to know how to observe...
Question: How does a human come into the world? Answer: A sperm and an egg "meet" and create a human! I repeat: from the meeting of two non-living components – a sperm and an egg – life is formed, creating a body with a spiritual essence that animates and gives it life!
And I ask myself: How does a planned, structured, ordered, and incredibly complex body emerge from sperm and an egg?
How did distinct organs with unique roles such as eyes, heart, and kidneys come about in precise locations? The teeth are always in the mouth, the nose is always above the mouth, and ears on the sides of the head, and so forth...
How did bones, muscles, and hair suddenly spring forth from sperm and an egg?
How did legs, arms, and nails appear suddenly from sperm and an egg?
How was the human brain created from sperm and an egg, a brain that thinks, remembers, plans, and feels various emotions?
How were wondrous organs like the heart and eyes created from sperm and an egg? These are organs human hands did not partake in creating, from which human hands did not contribute anything!
And the question of all questions: the body created is not inanimate. How were life, the spiritual entity that animates and enlivens a newborn baby's body, created?
I could continue on and on... But I think the conclusion is clear:
Friends! Logically, not through blind faith, we have just concluded that this world, filled with life and spirit, was created and designed by a non-human force, an all-powerful force. Are these not names for the Creator of the World?
Automatic Filtration System
Have you ever thought about what would happen if a person's waste stayed inside them?
If all the excess water, uric acid, sulfur, etc., were left to rot in the body, they would poison the person!
Therefore, humans were given two industrious kidneys that oversee the amount of water, acids, and salts in the body.
How does the filtration occur by the kidney? Blood containing waste comes from other body parts and enters the kidney through the renal artery. The blood is filtered, removing waste materials and excess fluids. The waste and excess fluids are sent to the bladder, while the filtered and clean blood returns to the body through the renal vein.

Excess salts out, introducing salts into the bloodstream, removing excess water, and water conservation - according to the body's need at that moment. If a person eats overly salty food, excess salt will be expelled. If a person eats proteins, waste will be broken down through the kidney.
How much blood passes through the kidney in one day? It's unbelievable, but the kidneys process 1,700 liters of blood daily! They recycle them almost entirely, except for a small portion that becomes urine, thus relieving us of the waste products of all body's cells. All this – automatically, without any human intervention or awareness.
This intelligent system, like other smart systems operating in the body's organs, is designed to serve the body and maintain its good health. What an ingenious design! What order! And who created all these smart systems?
