Gabor Erdes: Still, I Am Not Saying Goodbye
Gabor Erdes was only 12 years old when he was killed in Budapest by an SS soldier. His poems were published by his relative, Holocaust survivor Marian Miller (the mother of actor Adir Miller). A particularly moving poem is recommended for reading.

The poetry book of Gabor Erdes
We Part This Way / In Memory of Gabor Erdes
Another moment and the page of my book here closes,
And the book of another life will open,
Other flames will be kindled there,
And other desires will blaze.
This is how I will part...

I envy those who come after me,
Other emotions pulse within them,
Someone else is the main hero,
And different strings will vibrate.
This is how I will part...
Yet a ray of hope still shines within me,
Shining like a radiant rainbow of light.
Still, I will not vanish from sight forever,
If I die, I too will not return.
For if those who come afterwards flip through my pages,
From the lines, my soul will dance.
I live in my song,
And in this ground my soul will not rest forever.
When young people look at the pages of my book -
Still, I am not saying goodbye...
May this be in memory of the youth Gabor Erdes, among the six million victims of the Holocaust. May their memory be blessed.
