Circles and Lines: The Interwoven Structure of the Sefirot

Researchers focusing solely on the material aspect of the world remain distant from understanding its profound inner truth and elevation.

Until now, we have discussed the 'linear' structure of the Sefirot and the worlds. However, both in the structure of the Sefirot and in that of the worlds, there is an aspect of 'linearity' and an aspect of 'circles.' This means that besides the structure of the Sefirot and the worlds being above each other, they are also this within that, and this encompasses that, similar to the layers of an onion. As the words of Elijah the prophet in the preface to the holy Zohar state:

"You prepared garments for them [the Sefirot],

from which souls emerge for humankind.

And how many bodies did you prepare for them, which are called bodies in relation to the garments covering them, but each is itself a garment in relation to the more inner body."

The rule here is: The more spiritual and higher one is, the more it is within what is below it, acting as a soul to a body, and as a body to a garment. However, the one with a lower rank and smaller size only covers the lower part of the more spiritual, purer, and higher part above it.

In the circular arrangement of the Sefirot: the innermost of all is the Keter Sefirah. Surrounding it is the Chochmah Sefirah. Encircling it is the Binah Sefirah. Surrounded by six central Sefirot of Tiferet. Around all is the Malchut Sefirah.

The intention here is that the Malchut Sefirah is like the outer shell of an onion. The term 'circles' here does not refer to a single encompassing circle but to an encompassing sheath from all sides. However, it only covers the lower part of the more spiritual, more inner Sefirah, which is higher than itself. When combining the image of circles and lines, it results in a multi-dimensional structure.

Integrating the structure of worlds and Sefirot together in circles and lines, and their interrelations in material and spirit creates a magnificent and wondrous structure of truth in the world, against sensory illusions, and clarifies many puzzles and confusions in science in general, and quantum mechanics in particular, leaving its scholars baffled and bewildered by the behavior of matter and spirit in our world, contrary to simple logic. However, those who delve into Torah properly discover that our sages of blessed memory already knew that the material creation operates according to the spiritual structure within it. Not only did they not wonder about miraculous phenomena and changes in the natural world, due to their complete faith in the omnipotent Creator who acts and changes the laws of material nature at will—but they were even given by the Creator the ability to change nature through acts of holiness, according to the secret of the letters from which all of the universe is made and composed.

Examples from the words of the Sages for miraculous phenomena created by divine management in our world

The possibility of being in two places at the same time;

Standing a material object in a place smaller than itself;

The disappearance and reappearance of matter;

A wide land area acting as if compact, enabling quick passage from place to place;

A narrow land area acting as if wider, thus creating more space for those standing on it;

The dimension of time is not stable but relative to matter, tied to matter, and created with it. Even matter functions differently when the dimension of time flows through it differently;

And many more.

These miraculous changes, whose testimonies were passed down generation after generation among the people of Israel, were met with skepticism by the rational scientists not due to the height of their knowledge, but precisely because of their shallowness in understanding the inner spiritual structure of matter. This shallowness led them to even deny the Creator of the world who governs the natural order that He established and changes at will—"He turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water."

Researchers of the physical sciences in creation are likened, in the eyes of the sages, to members of an isolated tribe to whom a mobile phone fell from a passing plane, and they gather around it daily to inspect and investigate it. When one discovers that a single press lights up the screen, all are amazed by the wonder. And when another finds that pressing in a certain way produces sounds, they all stand excited and admire those who solved the mystery of the device and publicize him throughout the village as a person of honor and glory. Yet they do not know that, in reality, this device can connect their remote location to all corners of the world, providing them with world news, allowing conversations with anyone anywhere in the world, informing them of future weather at their residence and elsewhere, with a built-in camera to capture all their deeds and much more.

Thus, those who research the world only from its material aspect, with all their significant discoveries, are still far from recognizing the profound, true, and elevated content of the world and humanity. They engage with the shell, captivated and impressed with their discoveries and their discoverers, neglecting the primary inner truth. They do not learn or know the greatness of humanity, nor the ability to influence and orchestrate all the upper spiritual systems, "for in the image of Hashem, Hashem made humans."
