Is it permissible to open a can on Shabbat?
It is permissible to open a can on Shabbat, even with a can opener, since after emptying the contents of the can, one discards it in the trash. However, if one intends to reuse the can, it is forbidden. The same applies to snack bags - it is forbidden to use them for reuse.
Is it permissible to open a milk bag using a tool called "Kankomat"?
It is permissible to use a tool called "Kankomat" to open a milk bag, and this does not constitute making a proper opening [Responsa of the Rishon LeZion 1, p. 131].
