#VALUE!

A man once came to Rabbi Wosner with a serious question. He explained that his friend had essentially stolen three million dollars from him.

There had been a large inheritance of six million dollars that was to be split equally between the two of them. His friend submitted an old version of the will to the court, and as a result, the entire sum was awarded to him.

The man told Rabbi Wosner: "I have a copy of the correct will. If I sue him, I’m certain to win back my three million. Should I sue him or not?"

Rabbi Wosner replied: "You should sue him in a Beit Din (Jewish court). Based on the evidence you have, you’re entitled to that money."

Grateful, the man thanked the rabbi and turned to leave. But just as he was heading down the stairs, the door behind him opened. Rabbi Wosner called out, "My dear friend, remember one thing: for letting go- you get rewarded in this world."

Those words struck him deeply. Right then and there, he decided not to sue. He returned home, destroyed all the documents that could have proved his claim, and let the matter go completely.

From that moment forward, he says, he began to see incredible blessing in his efforts. Over time, he became so successful that he now testifies: “I have more than sixty times that amount- over $180 million.”.

A Full Circle Moment

Twenty years later, while vacationing in Vienna, he heard that Rabbi Wosner was nearby. He went to visit him and say hello.

Rabbi Wosner saw him and immediately said: "My dear one, is it true that even in this world, you get rewarded for letting go?"

The man smiled and nodded. He was stunned that Rabbi Wosner remembered him from a single conversation two decades earlier. But it was clear that the rabbi remembered everything, especially a soul who passed the test.

The Spiritual Takeaway

Even when you're in the right, and even when you're 100% justified, G-d whispers: "Did you just bring peace to My world? Did you create quiet instead of conflict? Then I will give you far more than you gave up."

Letting go is a difficult test. But it opens the door for G-d to show you just how much He can give.

May we all merit to pass our personal tests, and see blessings that go far beyond what we let go of.
