#VALUE!
We often ignore the brain, assuming it works on its own. However, like any other part of the body, it needs care.
Change your brain, change your life.
In my research, I found that changing the brain can change your entire life. A healthier brain leads to a better life. The key is to use the front part of the brain and constantly learn new things.
Great brain foods include blueberries, avocados, nuts, and green tea. Sleep deprivation harms the brain because it reduces blood flow. Nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol accelerate brain aging.
A Case Study
A couple attended marriage counseling without success. After three years and spending $25,000, the therapist advised them to divorce.
We conducted functional brain scans (SPECT), which measure blood flow to the brain. The wife’s brain was healthy while the husband’s showed low activity, similar to someone using drugs or alcohol. He denied any substance use.
Because substance users often lie, I asked the wife who confirmed he wasn’t using anything and that he was just "nasty."
I wondered why his brain looked the way it did. Low brain activity can result from illness, near-drowning, thyroid dysfunction, anemia, or toxic exposure. I asked where he worked. He said at a furniture factory, doing finishing work.
It turned out he was using substances because he was inhaling organic solvents on the job. When I asked the wife when his personality began to change, she realized it was five years ago- right when he started that job.
We removed him from the toxic environment and began treatment. His behavior improved and their marriage began to heal. Many relationships suffer because one partner has brain issues, and no amount of therapy can help unless the brain is addressed.
6 Life-Changing Principles About the Brain
1. Your brain is involved in everything you do
Every thought, emotion, action, and interaction is shaped by the brain. After analyzing over 40,000 brain scans, I learned that your brain determines your personality, intelligence, and even your soul’s expression. The brain is the hardware of the soul.
2. When your brain works right, you work right
A healthy brain makes you focused, happy, calm, loving, and effective. A struggling brain leads to distraction, sadness, anxiety, anger, and inefficiency.
3. The human brain is the most complex object in the universe
It has 100 billion neurons and more connections than stars in the galaxy. Information moves at 268 mph. Without care, we can lose 85,000 neurons per day which accelerates aging.
4. The brain is fragile
It’s soft- like warm butter or soft tofu- and it sits in a hard, bony skull. Even minor injuries can have lasting effects on your life.
5. Many things hurt the brain- but many things help it
With the right habits, you can heal and strengthen your brain.
6. Common brain enemies:
Drugs and alcohol: shrink the brain and damage function.
Negative thinking: when we focus on bad thoughts, the emotional brain overheats and the rational brain shuts down.
Caffeine and nicotine: excess amounts restrict blood flow.
Sleep deprivation: reduces brain function dramatically.
Sedentary lifestyle: leads to poor circulation and brain decline.
Smoking: causes the skin and brain to wrinkle and age prematurely.
What Helps the Brain?
- Lifelong learning: Every new thing you learn forms new connections. If you stop learning, the connections dissolve.
- Healthy nutrition: You are what you eat. Take daily vitamins and omega-3s.
- Exercise: Crucial for brain health.
- Good sleep: Vital for restoration and memory.
- Positive social interactions: Be with people who are good for you. Join support groups.
- Positive thinking- especially gratitude: Focus on what you love in life. This lights up the thinking brain and nurtures emotional resilience.
