The "EMA" and "Prisoners" departments work tirelessly to help the daughters of Israel who are in various types of distress, setting them on the right path. This assistance manifests in many areas: psychological support, emotional support, technical assistance in various subjects, economic assistance, and more. Attorney Zur Yosef is one of the dedicated volunteers in these departments, assisting many women in another critical area: the legal field.

Attorney Zur Yosef owns a law firm that deals with commercial matters, labor law, debt enforcement, and more. For many women, the assistance from Attorney Zur Yosef is truly life-saving.

Where does your work with the EMA and Prisoner departments show?

"Many women who reach these departments may be deeply entangled, even legally. In many cases, for example, stories with patients from the Prisoners department even constitute criminal offenses beyond the initial issue of concern about assimilation. We help the victims file complaints and navigate the legal side of matters as effectively as possible.

"Many women and couples coming to the EMA department have domestic issues, leading them initially to consider ending a pregnancy. Sometimes these are women in divorce proceedings, or women living with abusive husbands, and so on. Such women often find themselves burdened with significant debts left by the ex-husband, representing a true financial abyss. We assist them with all legal guidance, stand by them against debt collectors and other entities, and help them reach realistic debt settlements so they can start anew and raise their babies in peace. Most creditors and even government entities like debt enforcement understand these women's situations and make efforts to reduce debts while accommodating the women."

Which special cases, for example, are referred to you?

Attorney Zur hesitates. These cases are very sensitive, and any exposure can be problematic. Eventually, he shares some notable cases, with significant obscuration of identifying details.

"We had a woman, a mother of four children, in a terrible economic and familial state, to the extent that welfare services took all her four children. She was pregnant again and highly feared keeping the baby, lest he be taken as well. She reached the EMA department at Hidabrut, where they convinced her to maintain the pregnancy and helped her in many areas. I stepped in to help her maneuver through all her debts. Initially, I contacted several businesses I represent and found her a suitable job, creating a stable daily routine and a steady source of income. Later, I worked with debt enforcement to close whatever possible regarding her debts. Gradually, with all the help, she began living a normal life. Her older children were returned to her, and she gave birth to a fifth child, whom she is raising calmly and normally.

"Regarding the Prisoner department, we receive many cases where the victims are significantly younger than their abusers. One case involved a person over 40 trying to establish connections with a girl younger than 15. In this case, we immediately contacted the person’s workplace, ensuring he was promptly dismissed to avoid criminal issues. Additionally, we supported the girl throughout the complaint process, which was very challenging, especially considering her age.

"Besides this, even though it's not our primary practice area, we also deal with restoring individuals to Judaism. We assist assimilated women in returning to Judaism, obtaining divorce papers, and handling negotiations with rabbinical courts, answering various questions, and much more."

The support is carried out with special consideration, leaving both us and the patients with a feeling of resilience, confidence, and strength needed to embark on a new and correct path in life, with Hashem's help.

We thank the organization Hidabrut for its immense, varied, and numerous acts of kindness it performs, sharing with us and many others on this topic, with Hashem's blessing.
