A study published in The Lancet Global Health journal presents findings indicating that men who have undergone circumcision are at a reduced risk of transmitting the HPV virus—human papillomavirus—to their partners, which is the cause of cervical cancer.
In general, previous studies have already shown a lower risk of various types of diseases among circumcised men. It now appears that this decreased risk extends to the partners of these men. According to the aforementioned study, among women whose husbands are circumcised, the HPV infection rate is 5.3%, compared to 12.1% in women whose husbands are not circumcised.
