The Mishnah reveals to us that the way to gain heavenly abundance of protection, blessing, and success is by creating peace among us, "Hashem found no better vessel to hold blessing for Israel than peace" (Uktsin 3:12). Peace is the essential condition to receive divine abundance. When, God forbid, there is civil strife, hatred, and division, we do not merit heavenly blessings, which leads to tragedies and difficult events.

Peace is so beloved by Hashem that even if, God forbid, Israel worships idols, but there is peace among them, judgment will not harm them. As the sages teach: "Love peace and hate discord. Great is peace for even when Israel worships idols, if there is peace among them, Hashem says: 'I do not wish to harm them'" (Tanna D'vei Eliyahu Zuta).

We have gathered several prayers aimed at achieving love for every individual in the people of Israel.

The Prayer of the Chida

Behold, I accept upon myself the mitzvah to love my fellow as myself, and I love every single one of the people of Israel as my soul and essence. I prepare my mouth to pray before the King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He: I remember the standing at Mount Sinai, as it is said (Deuteronomy 4:9-10): "Only take heed to yourself and diligently guard your soul, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life, and make them known to your children and your children's children, the day you stood before Hashem your God in Horeb, when Hashem said to me: 'Assemble the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words so they may learn to fear Me all the days they live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.' May it be Your will, Hashem, our God and God of our forefathers, that You should fill us with mercy, and plant love, brotherhood, peace, and friendship between us and all of Israel, and make us one, as at Mount Sinai where there was peace between us, as it is written 'and Israel camped there against the mountain' as one man with one heart in complete unity. So, with Your abundant mercy, purify us from hatred, jealousy, and competition, and make us loving each other, and grant peace among us. Just as at Mount Sinai, the impurity was removed from us, You purified and sanctified us in Your holiness, so with Your abundant mercy, purify us from our impurities and defilements, sanctify us with Your commandments, and purify our thoughts and hearts to serve You and fear You. Implant Your Torah in our hearts, and may Your fear be before us not to sin, awaken our hearts to love Your Torah, and let us perceive it each day as if we are receiving Your Torah, with attachment, yearning, and desire, enlighten our eyes with Your Torah, let our hearts cleave to Your commandments, unify our hearts to love and fear Your great, mighty, and awe-inspiring Name, and redeem us for the sake of Your mercy, so we may receive and hear Torah from Your mouth, as it is said 'and all your children shall be taught by Hashem, and great shall be the peace of your children'. Quickly in our days, Amen, so may it be Your will:"

The Prayer of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk

Place in our hearts that we see each one's virtues and not their flaws. Let us conduct each other in a straight and desirable path before You. May no hatred arise for one another, God forbid. Strengthen us in love for You, as is known before You, may everything be a satisfaction to You, Amen, so may it be Your will..

Prayer to be Saved from Forbidden Speech

Master of the universe, may it be Your will, Merciful and Compassionate God, that You merit me today and every day to guard my mouth and tongue from evil speech and gossip and accepting it. Let me be cautious not to speak even about an individual, and especially not to speak against the entirety of Israel or a portion of them, and not to complain about the ways of the Holy One, blessed be He. Be cautious not to speak falsehood, flattery, mockery, discord, anger, pride, deceitful words, shaming others, and all forbidden speech. Grant me the merit to speak only words necessary for my physical or mental concerns, and may all my actions and speeches be for the sake of Heaven..

O Merciful and Compassionate God, grace me today and every day to guard my ears from hearing and reading things contrary to Your will, like evil speech and gossip, words of discord, vile words, heretical and deviant words, and all forbidden and idle speech. Help me forget anything ever heard or read against Your will. May I not, even unknowingly or unwillingly, hear or read anything improper. Let my ears and eyes be sanctified to see and hear only worthy matters of mitzvah..

A Prayer to Be Protected from Envy

May it be Your will, Hashem, our God and God of our fathers, that envy of others won't come over me nor my envy over others, and that I may not become angry, nor anger You. Save me from the evil inclination, and place within me humility and fear of sin. Our King and our God, unify Your name in Your world, and build Your house, complete Your temple, gather our exiles, redeem Your flock, and gladden Your congregation speedily in our days, and grant us our portion in Your Torah, Amen..

The Prayer of the Righteous Berdichev, to Be Said Every Saturday Night

It is customary to say this prayer three times for success on Saturday night. Found in the holy writings of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, author of 'Kedushat Levi':

God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob, guard and save Your people Israel, Your beloved from all harm, for the sake of Your glorious name. Behold, the beloved holy Shabbat is passing, and may it be Your will that the coming week arrives with complete faith, faith in sages, love of friends, cleaving to the Creator, blessed be He, belief in Your thirteen principles, and close redemption in our days, and belief in the resurrection of the dead, and prophecy of Moses, our teacher, peace be upon him:

Master of the universe, You give strength to the weary, give strength also to Your compassionate children, the Jews, to praise Your Name and serve You alone. May the coming week bring health, fortune, success, blessing, kindness, children, life, and sustenance to us and all Israel, and may we say Amen:

Prayer to Be Guarded from Evil Speech, Composed by the 'Chafetz Chaim'

Master of the universe, may it be Your will, Merciful and Compassionate God, that You merited me today and every day to guard my mouth and tongue from forbidden speech, meaning the sin of evil speech, as it says: "You shall not bear a false report", and understood to mean You shall not cause. The Torah forbade both speaking and receiving, and also the sin of gossip as it says: "You shall not go as a talebearer among your people". Be cautious not to speak even about an individual, all the more so not to speak slander against all of Israel, as this is a very severe sin. And certainly be careful not to complain about the ways of the Holy One, blessed be He, as it is considered a serious sin above all else, as it is written in Parashat Chukat: "The people became weary on the way, and they spoke against God and Moses", and for this serpents were sent against them, etc. "We have sinned, because we spoke against Hashem and against you." Abstain from speaking lies, as it is written: "Keep far from a false matter". And from flattering speech, which is beautifying an individual's wrongdoings in their presence, as it is written in Parashat Massei: "You shall not pollute the land". And from mockery, as it is written: "And now do not mock, lest your bonds be made strong". And from sitting among mockers, as it says: "And did not sit in the scorners' seat". Avoid verbal wronging, as it says: "And do not wrong one another", and Hazal understand it as referring to verbal wronging. Avoid shaming faces, even during rebuke as it says: "Reprove your neighbor but do not incur sin on his account". Avoid speaking with pride, as it says: "Take heed that you do not forget Hashem your God", and Hazal understand it as a warning against pride, as it says: "Then your heart be lifted up, and you forget", and as it appears in the Talmud: "Pride, even in the heart, is forbidden, as it is written: 'The abomination of Hashem is everyone who is proud of heart.'" So too, refrain from speaking words of dispute, as it says: "And not be like Korah and his company", and in the Talmud, it is said this is a warning not to maintain disputes. Avoid speaking in anger, which is in itself a very severe sin, and also leads to disputes and other forbidden speeches, and Hazal said: "Anyone who gets angry is as if they serve idols." Grant that I speak only necessary words for my physical or mental concerns, and let all my deeds and words be for the sake of Heaven..
