How Was the Great Rift Valley Formed?

I don't know if this question belongs here, but—I need to study about the Great Rift Valley. I looked it up on Wikipedia and read that it was formed millions of years ago, so I just want to understand what exactly it is? And how can it be said that it formed before the creation of the world?

The continents are in motion, a phenomenon known as continental drift. This happens because the Earth is composed of tectonic plates. As a result of this movement, the Great Rift Valley was formed.

Regarding your question, it is possible that the Creator shaped the world with the Great Rift Valley already in it. Alternatively, the Great Rift Valley may have been formed during the flood. As the Torah teaches us, during the flood "all the fountains of the great deep were broken up" (Genesis 7:11), meaning tectonic plate movements, which likely triggered deadly tsunamis that covered the continents.
